The African-American Civil Rights Movement refers to the movements in the United States aimed at outlawing racial discrimination against African American and stopping racism in Southern states. One of the most know civil right activist was Martin Luther King Jr., He was a huge impact on the African people. His thoughts were peace will change the hearts of the people.

On December 1, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks at age 42, refused to listen to bus drivers order that she give up her seat to make room for a white passenger. Her action was not the first of its kind; Nine months before Parks refused to give up her seat, 15-year old Claudette Colvin refused to move from her seat on the same bus system, But unlike these the individual actions of civil protest, Parks action sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycot. Parks' act of defiance became an important symbol of the modern Civil Rights Movement and Parks became an international icon of resistance to racial segregation.
